College Soccer Game Preparation
Ok, so tomorrow we play our second pre season game of the season. We go against a team ranked 8th in the nation, who last year had their best season on record. They have started out slowly this year losing their first three games 0-1. They beat us last year 4-0, so they will be looking at this game as a way to get back on track.
On our first game I used all 23 available players so that they all got a run out. Tomorrow I need to select our strongest team, since this is an important game for us, especially since the opposition are our cross town rivals.
Today’s preparation will consist of a team meeting to review our strengths and weaknesses, to review what we need to work on after our first game and to review our set plays.
On the practice field we will put our starting team out there against the rest of the roster and work on setplays and defending.
I don’t like to be too regimented with our attacking play, I want the players to have fluidity and the the opportunity to figure it out in the heat of the game. Having said that, we spent 90 minutes last night on finishing.
So, team meeting, a light practice, rest and recovery, raring to go for tomorrow.
