College Soccer Pre Season Update

OK, we are now two games into pre season and we came down to earth with a bump last night.

We played against a school with three times the enrollment we have, a school that has had its best start to a season in their history, a team that was 3-0 and had scored 14 goals conceding none….we lost 4-0.

The score should have been 2-0 except for a couple of gaffs by our freshman keeper. To be fair, he did go on to save a penalty and pull off at least one trmendous save, so all credit to him.

We were schooled in midfield by an incredible display of free flowing one and two touch soccer, a pleasure to witness if you didn’t happen to be the opposing coach!

We took a lot from the game, it gave us a number of things to work upon and it set a standard for us to aim for during the rest of the season.

The players were a little flat at practice tonight, so I handled it in a number of ways. I roasted the team as a whole, I called upon the seniors to step up and I spoke to a number of individuals that needed to be told exactly what the team expects of them.

We have just entered the 48 hour pregame preparation period and I have given them all enough to think about and concentrate upon.
