How do you manage your players after such a tough loss in soccer?
Wow, I am still recovering from yesterday’s game! I want to write to Blackburn Rovers and let them know I am proud of their performance yesterday and that I am gutted for them coming away from Old Trafford with nothing to show for their fantastic efforts.
We hit the post, were not awarded a blatant penalty, had the Old Trafford crowd frantically whistling for the final whistle and yet we return home with no points.
Man Utd are undoubtably the best team in the world and they have the best roster in the world, the players who did not start could start for any team in the Premier League (Giggs, Vidic, Van der Saar, Tevez, Hargreaves, Brown, Neville, etc, etc…..)
However, the great thing about the Premier League is that any team is capable on their day of beating any other team and Blackburn almost proved that yesterday.
If you were Sam Allardyce, what would you say to your players on Monday at practice? How can you get them motivated for the next game against Hull City? How do you console them when they gave absolutely everything for the team, yet came away with nothing?
Now, at our level of coaching, when your team has given everything, yet come away with nothing, what do you say, how do you react, how do you get them going again for their next game?
