FIFA World Cup England vs Germany
So, as an Englishman, what can I say about this game?
Firstly, for the majority of the game, Germany was by far the better team. No question.
However, as you have to agree, the game could have finished with a much different outcome.
I think that England were played off the park for the first half an hour or so, going 2-0 down due to a combination good finishing from the German strikers and some abysmal defending from England.
So, let’s get to it…the goal that was not given…..Absolutely amazing that the goal was not given and can you imagine what a massive difference that would have made? England would have gone in at half time with their tails up and the Germans would have been shellshocked.
The tactics from England would have been much different. Instead of having to take risks and chase the game and having the risk of being punished on a break away, England could have been more disciplined and played the game at the tempo they wanted.
If there is no goal line technology and video replays at the next World Cup, it will be a travesty. No excuses, no pussyfooting about, has to be there, no ifs ands or buts.
But, again, all credit to the Germans who put in a clinical performance. What a game to look forward to…Germany vs Argentina…leave a comment and let me know who you think will win that battle.
Let’s talk soccer!

Yes, FIFA needs goal line technology, but I think the only thing it would have changed on Saturday was the scoreline not the outcome. From the first games of the tournament you could tell the Germans we technically better, that Oezul is pure class. The big question now is, do they keep Capello. He was hailed as the savior and didn’t even get you as far as Sven did. But to be honest, what could he have done, when you have supposedly world class players like John Terry making such silly mistakes. Capello put so much faith on the importance of Barry and he couldn’t even foul Oezul, you could see him trying to trip him and miss, and go then got burnt for pace by someone who is not very fast.
Rooney was terrible, I hope he gets better by the time the EPL season kicks off. Man for man, when you compare the English team to teams like Brazil, Spain and even Germany, the only World Class player on the English team is Ashley Cole, I hate to say it because I don’t like him, but I can say in his position, he’s top 2 or 3 in the world, you can’t say that about any other player on the team.
Capello should have taken Adam Johnson. Can you believe that you are 4-2 down and he takes off Defoe for Heskey, when was the last time Heskey scored a goal.
Germany vs Argentina can go either way. I think the Argentine defence is yet a get a real test and if Germany scores first then they will be in trouble.
Hi there, I found your blog via Google while searching for soccer and your post looks very interesting for me.

Germans blasts England to advance!
my thoughts!
The England defenders can’t run! Too old? Not fit? Not motivated to chase? Lampard was robbed of a goal, but England was never close to preventing that 2-0 in the second 45 minutes; and deserve to lose.
The Germans clearly controlled the game until England’s goal, then there was a short critical phase. Had the goal been awarded, it could have changed the course of the match! I agree but should not be used as an excuse and he was quick to share the responsibility for failure in South Africa.Soccer is a sport that pretends TV does not exist except when it comes time to sell the rights. FIFA has fought violently against adding replay and using goal line technology! I just want to remind Mr Blatter and Mr Platini that Zidane was sent off in 2006 because the 4th referee saw the replay on the big screen set up in the stadium and immediately reported to the central referee so are you kidding me! Sunday, the fourth official certainly could have reviewed Lampard’s goal while play continued then signaled the referee to blow the whistle and restart from the center circle. After all, the officials now can communicate with one another thanks to their headsets — even if many suspect that the crew does not use them. But FIFA’s argument against that simple notion is, bluntly, absurd and is still refusing to use the video!!!!!
Regarding the game I think England didnt play as a team! I expected them to come with the bit between their teeth, but after five or seven minutes it was clear to me that it wasn’t the case. On paper, they have better individuals. But it’s what happens on the field that matters, as you saw yesterday. It’s how you come out as a team.
Rooney seems not able to make these run in the open space and Lampard usually a great midfielder with good reading of the game never found the forwards..the link was broken! David James is also to blame on the first goal..he is stuck on his line and didnt get off his line as the ball is coming to him. He also got scored on his near post! Now the Germans were aggressive from the first minute and it was a deserved victory. England played a good game but made some mistakes when they played the counterattack. The referee made bigger mistakes. Little things decide the result always. Now I m sure England will bounce back from that failure like other big soccer nations..the question is Next England coach should be English. The FA is to decide in two weeks whether to keep the Italian as coach after England’s exit butI strongly believed the job should go to someone born in the country with experience in English football….
Why watch? Paul has spoke – Spain will prevale
