Just watched the Blackburn Rovers vs Aston Villa game on TV and that was a harsh result for Blackburn. I have to give them every credit though, they battled for the full 90 minutes, but they just couldn’t make a breakthrough.

It is interesting that when you are struggling at the bottom end of the league, things just don’t run your way. We could have had two penalties and the gritty clearance from Warnock in the dying minutes fell to Agbonlahor who shot and it deflected off Nelsen into our goal.

Have you had periods in your career when your team is busting a gut to try and get out of the lower reaches of your league/conference and things just don’t seem to go your way?

I certainly have, the last two seasons at Whittier has had a number of times where we just needed a bit of luck, a rub of the green etc, but for some reason we didn’t get any.

It is almost as amazing that teams at the top of the league seem to be gifted opportunities, or things are presented to them that make all the difference. How many times have we seen Man Utd win games that were going against them over the years?

What causes both of the above?

Is it The Law of Attraction? Is it just Luck? Is is a matter of confidence or lack of confidence? I don’t know, but it is surely something worth looking into….
